The Learning Garden offers tours to individuals or groups interested in having an explanation of what the garden is all about. A member of the staff will show you around, talk about the main layout and displays in the garden and the principles they are designed to teach. A guided tour may last up to 45 minutes.
If you like to take things at a more leisurely pace, you may come to the garden anytime in the summer. It is open from 8:00 am-8:00 pm everyday. You can walk the garden and see the helpful displays, some of which have small brochures explaining the concepts and principles taught. A full garden plant list is available at the Learning Garden with plant labels throughout the garden to help you identify plants in the landscape setting. The Learning Garden is designed to be transitioning throughout the growing season to create color and interest all year long.
For groups that may be interested in a group tour and in learning how drinking water is treated, we offer tours of our water treatment plant in Layton. Please call for details and to set up an appointment. These tours are available Monday through Friday by appointment only.
If you belong to a group, company, agency or other type of organization, we welcome you to host your lunch or evening event or picnic at the Learning Garden. An outdoor, covered pavilion is available which has seating and tables for a large group. There is not a catering facility available, but if you bring your own meal or your own caterer, the facility space is available for your use by appointment. There is a larger grass area adjacent to the pavilion for lawn activities, then we hope your group will take the time to walk through the Learning Garden and get ideas for your individual yards. Please call for additional information or to get your event scheduled.
We hope you will come and enjoy the Learning Garden and learn the prinicples being taught for improving water efficiency while creating value and beauty in your landscape.
